Smoke and Mirrors

My thoughts on living behind Smoke and Mirrors. My friends, here is a something we must remind ourselves of . . . if we portray ourselves as "authentic" and "up front" one good thing to keep in mind is everything we are not, those things we hide, inevitably comes back to bite us in the ass!

When developing friendships and relationships with others, just because we omit doesn't mean we are telling the truth. It is called an Act of Omission and results in lack of respect. Simply, truth by omission is not the truth.

Every time we choose to hide behind Smoke and Mirrors, we damage the innocent faith someone had in our presentation of ourselves, their trust compromised, especially those we allow into our intimate lives. Presenting a false-self, removes the right of others to choose to associate with us based upon who we "really" are, our activities, and our associations. When we care about someone, it becomes especially important to be honest with ourselves in order to be honest with others. We need to trust in the other person's ability to love us despite our demons but if we hide them and those demons emerge, ultimately, we damage other's and must take on that responsibility.

We are only human, we make mistakes but one thing we should value above all things is our Integrity. It is our only TRUTH! ~ Kym L. Pasqualini

Fighting Against the Tide of Hopelessness

Did you realize, every 40 seconds someone commits suicide? Teens who were bullied, veterans and rape victims, witnesses to crime, those with terminal illness, and yes those suffering with psychiatric disorders. People tend to lump everyone into one category being the latter. Possibly applying a stigma to all, helps those who do not understand pain and hopelessness.

If someone you know is suffering please do not tell them to pray . . . maybe they never stopped. Please do not tell them they have to be strong . . . we cannot possibly understand the battle they have already waged. Please do not tell them things could be worse . . . for them fear has already replaced hope.

Suicide is preventable and the most effective treatment is so simple. If you don't understand, learn. Much depends upon removing the isolation and creating a support system that includes family, friends, and professionals (none are less important than the other). Making fun, demeaning someone and using empty  platitudes or clichés lacking compassion can cause more damage but simply using the words "you are not alone" can save lives.

Weight of a Stone Heart

A heart permitted to be hardened carries the weight of megalithic stone, sentencing the owner to a lifetime alone.

A heart that has been hardened represents a human's loss of love, compassion, and empathy - leaving it cold, filled with hate and apathy.

Every experience during our lifetime creates the person we are to become, happy, sad, painful . . . each event or contingency is accompanied by a lesson that we can take insight and wisdom from.

You see, we have a choice to let hurt and pain remain, towing a stone, and being alone or simply . . . let love remain. ~ Kym L. Pasqualini

Choices - Ripples in our Pond

Choices, we all make them. Like ripples in the pond of life, our decisions can reflect our integrity or even moral quandary. Beginning with us, the center point, our choices radiate outward and inevitably touch someone else's ripple. Our little waves reflect our strength of character or less than favorable behavior, ultimately reflecting what is in our interior.

Knowing every choice we make affects our future and that of others, we have a choice to make splashes of inspiration or capsize ourselves, along with those peacefully floating on gentle waves, or those already treading the dangerous swells of water looking for a lighthouse of guidance. Like a legacy, we must remember, our little undulations will carry through the water of our lives. ~ Kym L. Pasqualini

The freedom of awareness

A soul yearning to be free

Echoes of wilderness calling, a beacon of northern lights

A cosmic journey, a distant flight, a place where the beauty of silence can envelop me

Dreams of starry nights, my peaceful right, in a place where I can see ~ Written by Kym L. Pasqualini
